|Shadowrun Challenge: Gowan as an Elf
Greetings, my friends!
A while back, a couple friends of mine ChAlLeNgEd me (which I love--hint, hint)
to write two different Alternate Universe versions of my Shadowrun character, Gowan: make the little speciesist a meta and slash two of my characters. Tonight, I bring you the first challenge, Gowan as an Elf! Enjoy.( The Day the Sky FellCollapse ) Current Mood: accomplished

Greetings and salutations, my friends,
Whoops! Looks like I vanished again for a while. But rejoice in this, fellow travellers, for ol' PA has been writing
. I have all but the Big Final Scene of the very last part of the challenge done and ready to go. So, this week, in honor of the lovely long, slothful weekend I just enjoyed, I am going to be typing out my notes like a sweetmother. Get ready. Things are gonna get crazy in Seattle, 2059! And I might even be nice and catch y'alls up on where we are in-session so far. So, yes, Big Things afoot which shall, this week, be on the march! Or my name isn't Petunia Allegheny (which it isn't).
'Til then, keep livin' the dream, my friends. Current Mood: silly

|*waves while running by*
heh heh We're on break for class; they don't know I snuck out to play hooooky.
Greetings, my friends! I have not forgotten you. I just have had absolutely no time lately. I finally moved into the new place this past weekend, and that just about ate my life for a good few weeks. But, now, it is done, and I can box-surf as I look for stuff in da room. Always fun. And I have a real kitchen! And I set a whole new record for longest time awake!!
42 and a half hours. Ugh. I would very much like to die now, but it's only Tuesday.
But I bet you all are waiting for the good stuff--the Shadowrun stories. Trust me, it is coming. I have parts one and two of the challenge done, and part three is so dang close (although it wants to keep going after that to parallel what happens in the session). I also have great ideas for stuff to expand for next session--and I need to catch you all up!
So, yes, preview of coming attractions. I can't update from work (the firewalls don't like LJ), but I'll start typing things in now, and it should be up this weekend. Hold tight, my lovelies, the good stuff is coming.
Oh, yeah, and acting class is a little dull right now. We've got a micromanaging director, and it's a Greek play. More anon, as I'm getting called back to class. Current Mood: beyond slap-happy

|Shadowrun Musings (again)
Blah blah blah work busy, blah blah blah, acting school is neat, blah blah blah coworkers are scaring me with the idea of how work can "use" my acting skills. Brrrr. I get out of there in 2014. I get out of there in 2014...
Ahem. Zo. 'Tis Friday, and that means I am Spending the Night In (tm), ostensibly so I can rest up after a typically long week. This ALWAYS turns into a "golly, this looks shiny!" fest, so I figure, this time, why fight it?( Welcome, my friends, to the future.Collapse )
I've also been writing a fair bit. This is what I have so far:( Oh, sister dearest...Collapse )( Here's a Quarter; Call Someone Who CaresCollapse )( Spy vs. Spy!Collapse )( I was sweatin' bullets...Collapse )( Drrribs and DrrrabsCollapse )
I'm also going to use Danny, at least, as a jumping-off point for the challenge I opened this post with. I have a couple AU ideas I want to play around with. But I don't got nothin' written yet (stay 'tooned). So, instead, I leave you all with a coupla gloriously tasteless song
from my childhood. What can I say? Ol' Travis riled up mah braeeen. Current Mood: Ow! Mah hands
|Writer's Block: Life's lessons
If you could confront the worst teacher you've ever had, what would you tell him or her?
Mr. S, not only did you ruin the beginnings of my understanding of math, but your jokes weren't funny, you patronized me, and the fact you reacted to me as if I had a crush on you when I was doing my best to be polite over the fact I loathed you
has earned you a permanent spot on my Wall of Shame. Why did you ever decide to be a teacher in the first place?

Hi, folks. We gonna keep this'ere entry pretty short, because a) I'm writing it (ba-boom-ching!), and b) we gots a LOT to do today.* ( Read on, MacDuff...Collapse ) Current Mood: amused

|Aw, my first troll.
I've never attracted a troll before. A fascinating, if frustrating, cultural study. I went to figure out if I could block the person in the future, but I got distracted by my friends list.
I appear to have acquired a few lurkers on my friends list. But we're all friends here. Why don't you all introduce yourselves, tell me where you know me from? Then I can friend you back. Current Mood: amused

|Writer's Block: Sweat it out
Should physical education in schools be mandatory, and why?
Yes, it should. It will either instill an interest in fitness in kids that will last them the rest of their lives, or it will force them to get a little fitter for their standardized education years. Hopefully, it will stick. Health is vitally important, especially now, when people spend so much time not moving in front of their computers for their jobs or for fun. (Yes, and I see the irony of saying this as I sit at my computer and type.) Current Mood: sleepy

|Huh. Didn't see that one comin'.
Well, Danielle is out. She apparently told them over the weekend that she wasn't coming back. I'm disappointed. She's a good girl, and, man, I finally had a Plan all worked up! Sadness. I wish her luck. Current Mood: pensive

|Help a Poor "Thinky" Person Out, Will Ya? (This Post Brought to You by the Symbol, Comma.)
Greetings and salutations, my dear friends,
You find me in a rather pensive mood. (You also find me typing this at work in an e-mail format, as a) my dear place of employment blocks LJ, and b) if I read anything else, my head will explode. Breaky time!) This has been an interesting time in PA-Land. ( A Riddle inside a Puzzle beset by a ConundrumCollapse )
On an entirely unrelated note, if it weren't for the brand new novel$ I bought and savored all of last week--and, by savoring, I mean staying up way too late to read--I have totally gotten my schedule finally manged! Hence the fact I am caught up enough with everything
(every hand grenade, as they say, at least) enough to ramble in this lovely, too long post that I am currently scribbling longhand as I breathe to keep my pen thawed and maneuver around Georgetown's glorious potholes and cobblestones.
Expect a Future Post to tackle what's actually been going on with me, you know, in a more mundane sense, very, very soon. We have been doing fun acting things! I haz a PLOT for FK! One with an honest-to-goddess villain! (Can you guess who that might be?) Aaaand life is generally good. But my eyes, they are a droopin' (didn't sleep well last night :( ), and I have to clean all of this black (emphasis BLACK) hole of an apartment tomorrow, as someone was foolish enough to invite a bunch of people over next Friday for a game night. (Anybody in DC with a Settlers game I could borrow? Will exchange fresh-baked goods for the priviledge.) Damn social twin. Ta! And help with my puzzle very
. Jury's out currently on how good it is. The first half to two thirds are just AMAZING. The characters pop, the location is so well described that I could just see it, it's based on and uses a bunch of myths and legends, and it is so gloriously creepy that you end up being able to forgive the new author for an occasionally a little disjointed plot. But the end got really, really fantasy all of a sudden, and a little metaphysical. Then ending just kind of falls apart, a la Stephen King's do (but not that horror). Pfft. Not a fan. So, I'll have to read it again in a bit and decide if the first amazing bit outweighs the sagging end bit. Stay 'tooned. Current Mood: hopeful

Sadly, because I AM sick. Ah, well. Not much to say about today, but I thought I would tack on a nice "I'm all right" codicil to yesterday's rant, since it seems like certain people still do not know what "no comments" means. (That was very sweet of you, though. But I'm not responding because that would set a precedent.)
Much sleep has been had, and I discovered that I could make a turkey-pepperoni pizza omelet, which was very tasty. Prep for tomorrow, as much exercise as I can convince the (skeptical) body that it wants, and then off to acting class. Maybe. I still sound like I've been gargling with razorblades--or, maybe, that I followed several of my characters and took up smoking--so I might just give myself the night off and, dare I say it, go to bed early.
So, yes, reams of excitement here, but sleep is very nice. Current Mood: diffuse

A big shout out to moveslikegiallo
. Thanks for the candy! I am so excited to try it.. I have never seen rhubarb and custard or cola cubes (we have something kind of like the sherbet fountain and love hearts over here, as well--still good, though). You know what this means, though, don't you? In the spirit of scientific inquiry, every once and a while, we might want to consider such an exchange. For scientific inquiry, of course. *wink* [And you picked a lovely weekend for it, too. Definitely needed the pick-me-up.] And I'm so excited for Re-Action! I'm taking it in as a breakup between some very looooong training sessions this week.
In other news, which is not really news, PA has bitten off more than she can chew. Again. In fact, I've discovered that I really cannot cram anything else into my life, no matter how much I shove. Case in point, I really ought to be asleep right now, since 6 AM is coming aaaawful early. But, since I'm here, the highlights:
-New job! Still being trained! At some point, I'm sure they'll decide that I won't pee on the rug. Not yet, though.
-Still in acting school! Cool stuff. But it would be just as cool if they extended it for a week and cut the hours to three instead of four. Just sayin'.
-Marathons are hard! And yet, we ran one anyway. And tried to run today, nearly a week afterwards, and the body was NOT HAPPY. I don't think I've ever had to counter a mutiny from that quarter before.
-Starting a new film project! It should be...fascinating. Still not sure about it yet, though.
-Limping through NaNo! Yes, we are still trying to do NaNo this year. It is not a good idea, and we are waaaay behind. And, yet, it feels really good to get back to Kaelstrom.
-I will put exercise before sleep. I'm still amazed.
-I will also put "computer time " (which seems to, mostly, be fifteen minutes of Facebook twice a day) before sleep. I'm kinda disgusted.
Okay, must go sleep now. Current Mood: cold

|Alas, poor AlphaSmart...
My AlphaSmart, I think, has started to die. It just erased everything I'd done up to this point, which included blog entries for the past few days, an FK e-mail I was writing to lepusdomesticus, and story notes for me. I think, after a couple years of steady use and a life before me that included high schoolers, it is, sadly, dying. We'll see if I rewrite those blog entries. I have a few hours left of work, but I just won't be able to remember the tone and the fun (and the frustration, in yesterday's case) with which I wrote them the first time. Sadness. Good thing I finished that evil, evil inventory list (took almost half the 'Smart's filespace!) and dumped most of what was on here before it went. Sad about the blog entries, though. They were pretty funny, if I do say so myself. Don't know if I trust this thing enough to really go to town anymore. It's at least a decade old. It's possible all this recent use has just fried the poor devil. Current Mood: calm

|Writer's Block: My Personal Concert
If you could have any musician or band play live - just for you and your friends - who would you pick?
Definitely Aerosmith, Styx, or REO Speedwagon.
